Frequently asked questions
- What counts as an API request?
- Each HTTP request to our API endpoints counts as one request. This includes successful responses, errors, and cached responses.
- Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time?
- Yes! You can change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades apply at the next billing cycle.
- What happens if I exceed my rate limit?
- Requests exceeding your OpenXBL rate limit will receive a 429 status code. Your limit resets every hour. Consider upgrading if you consistently hit your limit.
- Are there other rate limits I should know about?
- Yes. Microsoft's Xbox Live services enforce their own Fine-Grained Rate Limiting (FGRL) per user, per title. These include burst limits (15 seconds) and sustain limits (5 minutes) that vary by endpoint. Even if you're within your OpenXBL limits, aggressive polling for a single user may trigger Microsoft's throttling.
- Do you offer custom enterprise plans?
- Yes! For applications requiring more than 5,000 requests/hour or custom SLAs, contact us at [email protected].
- Is there a free trial for paid plans?
- Our free tier is essentially a permanent trial—you can use it indefinitely. Upgrade when you're ready for more capacity.
